Germany is the patent powerhouse of the European Union


A study by the European Patent Office (EPO) has confirmed that the EU’s largest economy leads in patents, trademarks and designs.

BERLIN, October 11, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — European Patent Office Data Highlights germany dominant in practical industrial innovation within the European Union.

In a survey of IP filings by country of origin across all sectors, the EPO found 67,163 patents, trademarks and designs Germany. By comparison, the corresponding figure for France was 25,305. The German regularly comes in second place, behind only United Stateswith regard to filings with the EPO.
