Ghana Startup Ecosystem Program to equip 7,000 young people with digital skills
Ghana Technical Laboratory partnered with several partners in a fourth week-long Ghana Start-up Summit in Accra. This program works on the theme, “Business innovation and youth employment at the center of Ghana’s digital dynamic” Mainly focused on showcasing all innovations of youth-led businesses that offer alternative means of self-employment to young people while demonstrating the potential to accelerate Ghana’s digital transformation. The program targets 7,000 young people.
Ghana Tech Lab was established in 2018. It functions as a strategic center of ecosystem transformation fueling the country’s digital transformation. This year’s program will support selected SMEs with associated internet, servers and branding costs, in addition to social media exposure. The intention is to expose them to markets beyond Ghana’s borders.
In communication with the media, a managing partner at Ghana Tech Lab, Mr. Edward Akani, highlighted some of the partners they work with, such as the Ministry of Communication and Digitization, the Mastercard Foundation and the World Bank through the Accra Digital Center.
This year’s innovation program is particularly focused on digital media and takes place over six weeks accompanied by 10 weeks of incubation followed by an internship while the national acceleration program continued for 6 months while focusing on startups that have been in business for less than 3 years.
The event’s press release shared with the nation’s media purposely stated that this week-long summit seeks to inspire early stage and growing entrepreneurs to receive support for innovative, scalable and sustainable businesses aimed at to enter into national and international brand partnerships.
Ghana Tech Lab works hand in hand with 21 ecosystem partners across Ghana to drive technological innovations and advance digital transformation through vocational training while providing innovative entrepreneurs with support and investments for startups.
