Trade between Qatar and Germany up 75% to QR 11.2 billion in 2021, says Sheikh Khalifa


Trade between Qatar and Germany amounted to QR 11.2 billion in 2021, up 75% from the previous year, according to figures announced by the Qatar Chamber, which participated in meetings recently held in Berlin.
Qatar Chamber Speaker Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim al-Thani led a delegation, which participated in the joint meeting of the executive bureau and the board of directors and the general assembly of the Chamber of Commerce and Arab-German industry “Ghorfa”.
The Qatar Chamber also participated in the 25th Arab-German Economic Forum, which was also held in Berlin from June 21 to 23. The chamber delegation included board members Mohamed bin Mahdi al-Ahbabi; Dr. Khalid Klefeekh al-Hajri; Rashid Nasser Rashid Saree al-Kaabi; Director General Saleh bin Hamad al-Sharqi; the director of the general manager’s office Mohamed Saad al-Muhannadi, and several Qatari businessmen.
The joint meeting of the executive board and the board of directors focused on strengthening trade and economic cooperation ties between Germany and Arab countries, while the general meeting approved the items on the agenda of the day.
The delegation held several meetings on the sidelines of the Arab-German Economic Forum, including the chamber’s meeting with Nevine Gamea, Egyptian Minister of Trade and Industry, in the presence of Dr. Khaled Hanafi, Secretary General of the Union of Chambers Arabs.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen trade and industrial cooperation relations between Qatar and Egypt, how to encourage mutual investments and the role of the private sector in activating investments for strengthen trade.
The two sides also agreed to prepare for the establishment of a joint Qatari-Egyptian exhibition in which Qatari and Egyptian industries and products will be promoted, as part of increasing trade volume. commercial.
On the sidelines of the 25th Arab-German Economic Forum, Sheikh Khalifa said that Arab-German economic relations have developed significantly in recent years.
The value of trade between the two sides over the past year amounted to 41.2 billion euros, including 12.4 billion euros of Arab exports to Germany and 28.8 billion euros of German exports to Arab countries, achieving a growth of 10% compared to 2020, which recorded 37.5 billion euros. the value of trade.
Sheikh Khalifa said trade between Qatar and Germany stood at around QR 11.2 billion in 2021, up from QR 6.4 billion the previous year, reaching a record growth of 75 percent.
He pointed out that Germany is one of Qatar’s most important investment destinations, as Qatari investments in Germany vary between the automotive industry, telecommunications, hospitality, banking and other sectors. vital.
